The Flying V’s has existed for since 2004 as a summer track & field club for students in the Verona Area School District, and is both an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and USA Track & Field (USATF) certified club. Our athletes have been success at the local, state, and national level. In 2009 we added the fall running club to prepare VASD elementary students for the annual Pumpkin Run and additionally assist some of those runners towards their goals at the USATF Cross Country meets.
Overall Philosophy of Flying V’s:
What makes our sport great, is despite the finish (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) the athlete can look at the time or distance and see if they are making an improvement, allowing success to be more clearly measured than most sports. Our club places a heavy emphasis on individual development, so athletes feel better as they make progress in their event(s). In addition, we hope the success that an athlete receives from track and field or running can bring more confidence into that athlete’s other sports and other aspects of life.
